Part3

Dazed Rouge awoken from his slumber by a vibration. It started off as a slight tremor, but as Rouge crept slowly towards reality, the quake got larger and larger. When at last Rouge broke through the walls of sleep and into reality, the quake felt so large that he thought his head was going to explode. It didn’t however. His quake was only an illusion in the eyes of his mind. He felt it moving back and forth. From his view of the room, nothing moved, only his head. It was as if his brain was experiencing this vibration… as if, his mind were the cause of all this. Then, it stopped. No warning, no slowing down. The quake ended abruptly. Rouge found himself on the floor in his room. Apparently, he had fallen of his bed and onto the floor hurting his head. But there was no pain, nothing. Getting up, Rouge felt his old friend lethargy creep back in. Although finely toned and muscular, Rouge found it hard to move. It was as though earth’s gravity increased tenfold and even a raise of his arm took immense effort. It wasn’t physical Rouge knew. It was his mind, playing a part of this nonsense. Does that mean that what happened previously in the crazy town was just a dream? He remembered a small girl. Who was she? Why was she different? And what happened to her? He remembered her dashing across to a wall and then disappearing. Disappearing? That’s an odd dream.

A glance at the clock told Rouge it was time. The alarm clock would be ringing any minute now, and Rouge silenced it before it even started a single ring. Looking at his watch told him today was special. A special day he had looked forward to since 2 months ago. Today was to be a blast. Today… is his 21st birthday. Ignoring the dreams warning of possible déjà vu, Rouge ran down thumping his hands happily in the air. Upon arrival at the table, Rouge was greeted by food. Food, food and more food! The whole table was overflowing with it. The life spring of human kind! But food wasn’t the only thing ready to greet Rouge. His parents were eagerly waiting and with presents in hand. After the feast, Rouge went on to university.

The streets somehow seemed livelier today. It was as if everything was looking at him and smiling. Even the trees looked to smile at him. It would be another 15 minutes before he reached the university. Almost there he thought. Almost to the grand welcoming party. He dreamt of how they would receive him, how they would shower him with congrats and how they would flood him in presents, especially the girls. But something had caught him and pulled him out of his fantasy world. Something had broken his imaginative dream. Looking around, Rouge sees nothing out of the ordinary except a girl in the alleyway. She was crouched down on one side of the alleyway. She looked somehow familiar. It was as though Rouge had seen her before, like a sister from the past.

Finally Rouge grasped the memories from his dream. It was that same girl that he had seen before. She was the one that disappeared into the wall. Dressed in nothing but rags and messy black hair, she sat, oblivious to Rouge. Curiosity led Rouge to a standstill in front of the dead-ended alleyway. A whispering from it edged Rouge to go to her, talk to her, and see what she has to say. Losing the battle to curiosity once again, Rouge walked forward. Before he was even within talking distance, the girl looked up, saw Rouge, and bolted for the wall. Rouge expected the girl to disappear into the wall as in his dream. She did not. She rammed into the wall, bounced off it, and fell onto the floor. Only this time, the floor had the effect of the wall. She fell right through the solid floor.

Curiosity pulled Rouge by the neck and Rouge quickly ran to where she disappeared. With a knock with his arm, the wall showed itself as a solid inanimate object. There was a solid eminence to it, and Rouge decided not to pursue the wall any further. Instead, he looked to the ground. The floor which had absorbed the girl was more solid than Rouge had hoped. It was brick solid, and living in a semi-concrete environment, this was what he had to expect. Why? How? What happened?

“Follow.” A voice.
“Follow who?” asked Rouge aloud.
“Follow” was its reply.

Rouge would think that whoever saw Rouge do what he is about to do would think he was some sort of nut case. Rouge decided to follow and walk in the footsteps of the girl in his dream. Rouge ran into the wall, hoping it would give way and absorb of the impact, and he would disappear into whatever it was in his dream.

Rouge ran and jumped against the wall. It held fast, and the force he threw at it was returned back to him. With a little dismay that his dream was just a dream, Rouge fell back. Expecting the floor to greet him with another thud, Rouge fell right through it. It had the same feel to it as it had in the dream. Cold to the touch, but the moment Rouge passed through it, a warm sensation overcame Rouge.

Rouge opened his eyes. Were they open? Or were they glued so tight that he could not see anything. Whatever it was, he could only see black. It wasn’t just as black as a shadow or a dark night without the moon. It was a black of evil. A black so dark that even darkness seemed bright. Rouge looked all around him. Was he standing? Or was he hung upside down? His every sense failed him. All he could feel, was vertigo. But the question was, why vertigo when he could see nothing. Touch nothing. Feel nothing. And then he was rewarded with an answer: Falling. He fell into the darkness.
